We don’t know about Santa Claus, but Árvore de Natal da Lagoa is coming to town! After a two-year absence (due to a lack of funding) the famous Lagoa Christmas Tree will return to Rio on December 1st. The tree has a new sponsor (Petrobras) and will be celebrated with music and a fireworks show:

Rock In Rio’s lineup has been announced for the 2019 show. Pink will headline the main stage, her first time performing at the festival. The Black Eyed Peas, Megadeath and more will appear, with more of the lineup to be revealed soon:

Beginning tomorrow, November 7th through November 26th, ‘Acorde! O Cinema de Spike Lee’ (Wake Up! The Cinema of Spike Lee) will feature 22 Spike Lee feature-length films and more in Rio’s Bank of Brazil Cultural Center. Spike Lee fans and newcomers to the New Yorker’s work can also enjoy a debate and a Spike Lee film class:

The ‘Festival do Rio’ (Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival) is underway at venues around Rio and will continue through November 11th. The biggest film festival in Rio, it will feature 200 films from more than 60 countries, including 84 Brazilian productions, not to mention seminars, workshops, and debates!
