Exchange Rate Between Brazilian Real and U.S. Dollar Highest Since 1994

This week the foreign exchange rate between the Brazilian Real and the U.S. dollar rose to the highest level since 1994, closing at R$4.16/US$1.  In the past month, the dollar has appreciated 3.03 percent due to the upcoming Brazilian presidential elections and international factors.  However the Brazilian Finance Minister says the government will not take action to halt the real’s depreciation:
