Brazilian Troops Deployed to Brazil

Brazilian President Michel Temer has ordered that 9000 soldiers take to the streets of RIO amid protests and threats of a strike by police officers.  The decree signed by President Temer on February 14 states that soldiers are to be deployed until February 22, just two days before the official start of Carnival.

RIO to Receive $850m in Aid

Rio de Janeiro is facing two major hurdles in the weeks before the 2016 Olympic Games: security and infrastructure.  The governor of RIO declared a state of financial emergency for the city just days ago.  And now, Brazilian interim President Michel Temer is poised to announce $850m in aid that will be transferred to the city.  Read on for details:
