Paying Tribute to the Afro-Brazilian Sea Goddess

A New Year’s tradition perhaps less well-known is that of the Candomble and Umbanda faiths.  Last week, hundreds of believers gathered at Rio’s Copacabana beach to honor the sea goddess Yemanja by launching heartfelt offerings into the sea.  Read on for more of this beautiful tradition:
