The O Cluster Collective Returns

If you missed the June edition of the O Cluster Collective in RIO–live music, fashion finds, and culinary delights–you’ll have another chance this Sunday, September 3.  The O Cluster Collective returns to RIO’s Casa França Brasil (France Brazil house) from 1pm to 9pm and entry is free.  Read on for more details of this event, which highlights the local RIO art scene.

Connect with Nature at Sana

Less than three hours from Rio and surrounded by mountains, the village of Sana offers a chance to connect with nature and locals.   If the trails, rivers, and waterfalls aren’t enough to bring you to this rustic village, on September 9th, Sana will host the traditional “Festival de Inverno da Serra” (the Mountain’s Winter Festival), also known as Sana’s Reggae Festival:

The Dança em Trânsito Festival Is Underway

The Dança em Trânsito (Dance in Transit) festival is currently underway and will continue through August 27.  Fourteen dance companies, some from around the world and others based in Brazil, will present spectacles and offer workshops.  Tonight, August 23, you can enjoy French group Affari Esteri will present “The State” at 6PM at Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil:

Tourists Gather to Dangle Near RIO

A photograph of a woman dangling precariously from a cliff, a one-hour drive from RIO, went viral recently, viewers amazed at what appeared to be a daredevil’s trick.  It turns out that there’s a little more to this photo–but the plateau at Pedra del Telegrafo is truly an attraction for venturesome tourists.  Read on to for pics of tourists displaying their adventurous side at this Brazilian landmark:

Plans for Assistance Center for Immigrants and Refugees in RIO

The Rio de Janeiro government has plans to build a center that will connect immigrants and refugees with legal paperwork, education, and jobs.  The center will focus on providing education first and is part of a previously implemented plan to provide support services to refugees.  Read on:

Police Arrest Suspect in Tourist Shooting

Over the weekend, Rio de Janeiro police arrested a man they believe was involved in the recent shooting of a British tourist who was vacationing in the city with her husband and children.  During the confrontation between police and a group of criminals (during which the suspect was apprehended), two other men were shot and died at the scene.
